Discussion Question - Week 3 Completed!

Welcome: Hannah, Qavi, Jeffery, Shahad, Aaisha, and Amrita! to my blog, this question is for the book "Branded". Here's the question:

Why do you think that Mr. Roberts cares so much about Ian's concern regarding Social Justice? Explain you're thinking!

  1. I think that Mr Roberts is so concerned about Ian’s concern for Social Justice because: Mr Roberts knows that both of Ian’s parents are lawyers and he may think that maybe Ian has a future in being a lawyer, so he wants him to be in a good environment for learning about it, or maybe he’s trying just to be nice to Ian by caring about him, to try to make him be on Mr. Roberts side in the conflict concerning the uniforms.

  2. Very interesting question, Matt. I am really looking forward to reading the responses you get.

I think the whole issue of social justice is a very important one. Too often, people tend to put themselves ahead of other people and tend to disregard the way their actions affect the lives of people around them. Having an awareness of social justice not only in our society but in the world in general is definitely something very important. I'm glad it's an issue that is being looked at in your book!

  3. Matt I would have to agree with you about Ian's parents being lawyers so that’s why he what’s to get interested in social justice.
I think that Mr.Roberts cares so much about Ian being interested is because if Ian sticks to that then when he gets to high school he could dig deeper in it more because he is older and he could go to university with it and that could be Ian's job and he would have a great life because he would be helping people and get paid a very good amount of money and get to travel because he would have money to pay for it. Maybe Ian is trying to that because maybe Mr.Roberts will get rid of the uniforms and or maybe consider it.

  4. I agree with Hannah in the part that he might have a future in somthing to do with social justice, probably being a lawyer, high chance. I also agree with Hannah in sentence 6 saying "he would have a great life because he would be helping people and get paid a very good amount of money" I agree with her because doing good thing's like that link to social justice. A very good reply Hannah thank you.
